A Colour Journey - well Revolution really!

Anni Wickham

It is not often that I meet a client who loves colours that are really different to the ones that I choose for them - this is the tale of Jeanette.

Usually in Colour Analysis I am developing a clients wardrobe - finding new and better colours for them, introducing them to new make up and jewellery colours. Most of their wardrobe will be kept, a few items slowly removed and new perfect pieces added gradually. Occasionally I have clients who refuse to wear certain colours - a Cool Winter who thought magenta was rather “Victorian” and old fashioned, a Cool Winter who refused to wear red as she supported Manchester City and was not ever going to be seen in Manchester united colours. These things are easy to work around - there are many colours on a palette.

Jeanette was different - she is instantly the sort of person you like - fun, bubbly and sociable. As soon as we discussed colours it became apparent that she liked colours that expressed her personality - bright. During the analysis she turned out to have Soft Autumn features. She still wanted her brights and was disappointed with the new soft greens, caramels, browned pinks, and browns. I ended up draping her with the Soft Autumn drapes and then the brights and rich colours she loved - here are the results:

We ended up with a compromise. A soft autumn palette and a few of the brighter colours she loved. This gave her the chance to start to experiment with the new colours, but with brights to fall back upon if she didn’t like them.

I kept thinking about Jeanette and how her progress towards Soft Autumn was going - after a month I got a text :

I’ve changed my wardrobe and so many people have commented on how well / good I look!!

Which is wonderful! Especially as my husband was thinking it was a waste of time. J

Of course - I wanted to know which side of the palette she was wearing - and she confirmed many were from core Soft Autumn palette with occasional items from the brights - YES!! She was also finding the Soft Autumn make up guidance really useful and had changed her lipstick.

Recently I contacted Jeanette again to ask for feedback for a customer review page I was adding to the website. She has continued to get lots of compliments and really embraced Soft Autumn - even stopping dyeing her hair. She sent me more photographs which I have added here to the ones she sent just after the analysis. Husband included !!

To see her colour revolution is really inspiring for me - a great result from a job I love.

Thankyou Jeanette for allowing me to share your colour story.
